Float Fire 82™- Sheet Glass
Float Fire 82™ is a complete line of float glass compatible fusing products used for glass fusing that includes float compatible fusible glass, float compatible fusible glass frit, float compatible fusible glass powders, float compatible fusible glass stringers, float compatible confetti and float compatible glass paints. The newest addition to the Float Fire 82 line of fusing products is bubble powder. Float compatible bubble powder is used in the sandwich technique of fusing. The powder is designed to actually create bubbles in your work.
Float Fire 82 glass is a float compatible fusing glass that is designed for fusing to float glass. The glass has a COE of 82 +/-3 and can be fused with inexpensive clear window glass, also known as float glass. Because the COE of float glass among manufactures varies within a range between 79 and 85, there is no guessing as to whether Float Fire 82 is float compatible. It is float glass so it is float compatible. The only question is the appropriate firing temperature. We provide firing guidelines but we still recommend that you test because of differences in kilns and studio conditions.
Float Fire 82 is a very versatile product that can also be used in many applications other than glass fusing. It is similar to flashed glass because the color is on one side of the glass. This makes Float Fire 82 a wonderful glass for glass sandblasting and glass etching. It is easier to work with than flashed glass and it is less expensive.
You may choose to work with only our Float Fire 82 line of float compatible fusible glass frits and float compatible fusible glass powders, fusible glass confetti, fusible glass stringers or fusible glass paints. All you need is float glass to use as your base material. You may even be able to find scrap float glass free. The frits are available in 36 colors and in many different sizes. They come as powder, #2 grain through #5 grain frits, bubble powder, confetti, eggshells, glass paints and stringers.
Try glass slumping, draping and glass bending with Float Fire 82. Many architectural glass projects use float glass for slumping and bending because it is so easy to work with and produces dramatic results. Imagine the addition of color that is possible with the use of Float Fire 82 glass or our float compatible frits, powders, confetti, and float compatible stringers or rods.
